David Rossel presents a through-composed yet deliberately simple arrangement of the well-known Scottish song Auld Lang Syne, now available for mixed choir (SATB). The arrangement is based on an original version for men’s choir, which has been musically expanded without becoming more difficult.
This setting is particularly well-suited to amateur choirs looking for atmospheric yet accessible repertoire. Rossel’s arrangement is marked by clear voice leading, modest harmonisation, and a natural musical flow – all of which enhance the emotional impact of the traditional melody without overwhelming it.
The piece can also be sung with German-language text versions, offering additional versatility in programming – for example at New Year’s events, farewells, or commemorative occasions. The new SATB version further broadens the appeal of the work and makes it accessible to a wide range of choral groups.
