The choral and organ works of the popular Welsh composer Robert Jones have been part of the core repertoire of many choirs and organists for years. Now Jones also dedicates himself to the genre of solo singing, in the form of a short Latin mass (without Credo). The following parameters guided him in the composition: the vocal part should have a pleasant ambitus in a comfortable middle register and be able to be sung by a female as well as a male voice, the vocal and organ parts should be easy to perform and the tonal result should be characterised by elegant melodic formations in the solo part as well as a romantically inspired harmony in the accompaniment. We say: Full marks! And: With this melodious mass, nothing stands in the way of a service with minimal instrumentation and maximum solemnity.
