The "Magnificat" shows the typical personal style of composer Gunther Martin Göttsche, who draws on the colorful harmonies of French Impressionism as well as jazz elements. In doing so, he focuses equally on the vocal line and ease of performance as well as the comprehensibility of the musical events and a comprehensible interpretation of the text. The work goes back to an earlier commission for the Dresden Kreuzkirche and was reworked at the beginning of 2016. A version with organ accompaniment (instead of the orchestra) is also available (Carus 27.210/45).
