The renowned German-American composer Bernard Sanders was commissioned to write a German Mass for mixed choir, organ and brass ad lib for a large choir meeting. The peculiarity: Since choirs singing for three and four voices were to participate equally, a 'flexible' instrumentation was desired, in which, however, not the tenor voice - as is usually the case - but the bass voice could be omitted. Sanders solved this task by recording the tenor in a comfortable baritone register, which also gives the bass singers of a SABar choir the opportunity to sing along with this then only male voice. Stylistically Sanders moves perfectly within the framework of what 'normal' church choirs can achieve and want: A dignified movement without technical hurdles, melodies with catchy character and above all a musical lightness that makes it a pure pleasure to rehearse and perform the work - in the context of great choir meetings as well as in the local church. In the Credo, the congregation can participate by means of an easily singable verse, which further increases the practical relevance of the work. We recommend this German Ordinarium to all choirs singing three and four voices as a 'year-round mass' whose positive reception is guaranteed!
