Since the overwhelming success of the "St. Thomas Choral", Pavel Stanék has been repeatedly confronted with the desire of many performers to compose a piece of music comparable to the "St. Thomas Choral". With "Remember Me", the composer has undoubtedly succeeded in doing so. In terms of structure and style, it is less sacred than the "St. Thomas Choral", but the work is characterized by a wistful fullness that flows out in an almost endless melody. The voice leading and harmonic richness are almost reminiscent of the music of Richard Wagner or Anton Bruckner. Although the piece is "only" for intermediate level, the emotionality and the listening ability of all performers are put to the highest demands. In order to interpret "Remember Me" in a meaningful way, to shape the huge tension curves dynamically and convincingly, the work cannot be played through quickly as a warm-up piece. This would also not be possible from a wind-conditioning point of view. "Remember Me" is wonderfully suited to developing a flowing performance with a middle-level orchestra and familiarizing amateurs with the possibilities of a deeply felt interpretation.
