Description

Shortly after a stay with Thibaut in Heidelberg, he composed "Tu es Petrus" in 1827, an echo of his encounter with the Palestrina style. Mendelssohn himself considered the work, which is strict in its artful contrapuntal development of the motifs, to be the "most successful piece" of those years.
