It was a sensational composition competition initiated by the Bavarian city of Burghausen on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the creation of the world's most famous Christmas song 'Silent Night, Holy Night' in 2018: 68 participants from all over Europe and the USA presented their contributions to a top-class jury, which then announced the three winners. In keeping with the importance of the competition, it was only logical that these three award-winning works should then be released on CD as well as in a sheet music edition. The three very differently arranged works are united by the ambition of their creators to wrap the old-venerable Christmas carol in new tonal garments and to make tonal and stylish works available to today's organistic practice for worship and concerts. Content: Johann Simon Kreuzpointner: Sonata for organ about 'Silent Night, Holy Night'; Luigi Mengoni: Christmas triptych about 'Silent Night'; Andreas Willscher: Noël 'Silent Night, Holy Night'. Six variations.
