The music of Haydn's younger brother, which - although highly esteemed by his contemporaries - fell into oblivion in the 19th century, is still waiting to be rediscovered. Among his better-known works is the German High Mass "Hier liegt vor deiner Majestät" MH 560, the musical epitome of southern German-Austrian Catholicism and still present in church music practice today.
