"Quintillusion!" is a symphonic fanfare for wind orchestra written for the Asian Bands Exchange Concert in Senzoku, Japan (2013). The world premiere was directed by a well-known Japanese composer-conductor, Maestro Ito Yasuhide. As the title suggests, the music uses a five-note motif derived from the acronym of the event: (A)sian (B)and (E)xchange (C)oncert in (SE)nzoku; with ES representing E-flat in German and Dutch. This five-note idea is heard throughout the music with varied timbral, melodic, harmonic and rhythmic interplay. This work is dedicated to the bands and conductors of the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music (Japan).
