"Mon secret" is a four-part a cappella work for mixed choir (SATB) based on a quotation from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's famous work "Le Petit Prince". The selected passage is one of the best known and most quoted from the book:
Voici mon secret: On ne voit bien qu'avec le coeur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.
(This is my secret: You only see well with your heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes).
These words, which the fox confides to the little prince, have become a symbol of profound human wisdom. They remind us that the really important things in life - love, friendship, affection - cannot be perceived with the eyes, but only with the heart.
Carl Rütti's setting of this profound text is just as moving as the text itself. By using a cappella singing, he creates an intimate and immediate atmosphere that speaks directly to the listener. The harmonic structure and melodic lines reflect the gentleness and depth of the words and invite the singers to interpret them sensitively and expressively.
Concert choirs expand their repertoire with a quiet work that presents no great difficulties and is always popular. The work is also feasible for good amateur choirs.
