The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond is a Scottish traditional. The song tells of the largest lake in Scotland and the entire island of Great Britain, "Loch Lomond", which covers an area of 71 square kilometers. The Austrian composer and conductor Thomas Asanger first came into contact with the melody during his studies.
