The work 'The Little Imp' was commissioned by the International Festival Music Days Uster in August 1984. The premiere took place on 29 September 1985 by the Zurich Wind Orchestra conducted by Albert Häberling.
The composer was inspired by the following text:
"Last night a little imp came. What do you think he did? Nobody knows yet.
But I have seen him. He stole the moon,
and I don't think we'll ever get him back.
He looked so pleased, that little imp, when he left"....
