The Credo belongs to the large group of church music works that Vivaldi composed between 1713 and 1717 for his main place of work in Venice, the Ospedale della Pietà. The composition, conceived solely for choir and strings, is characterized by a musically two-layered structure: a continuous motivic basic idea, a maintained rhythmic impulse with rapid tone repetitions forms the instrumental level, while the choral movement, on the other hand, performs the text in a block-like structure in chordal declamation. The structure is only briefly abandoned in the final section of the work, where the text section "Et vitam venturi saeculi" is embedded in a short fugue.
