In addition to Zelenka's more than twenty masses, which are undoubtedly at the heart of his oeuvre, his thirty psalm settings are of particular importance as self-contained cycles, some of which are in several movements. They reflect the entire richness and diversity of Zelenka's art, in which he used all the techniques and compositional styles of his time.
