With this adaptation of the Bolero, Christian Beyer dares to do something that most arrangers would have thrown their hands up in horror at. The result is remarkable: a (sensibly abridged) version of the well-known masterpiece that makes full use of the timbres and possibilities of the wind quintet through clever instrumentation. The snare drum ostinato can be added ad libitum. For the first four bars, key noises from the oboe and clarinet are used to introduce the rhythm.
