Söldner-Fantasie
(Mercenary fantasy)
In earlier centuries, the Swiss were popular mercenaries in foreign armies. Their daring and their impetuous fighting strength could hardly be stopped.
Only the sound of the alphorn made many a mercenary so homesick for his mountain valley that he deserted.
The alphorn as a wild battle cry and as a longing voice of the distant homeland inspired me to write the Mercenary Fantasy for alphorn and organ.
The Söldnerfantasie is commissioned by the Zug Foundation Landis & Gyr.
