For a long time, the composer Theodor Rupprecht (1873-1934) was considered to be Austrian in brass band circles. No one could say exactly why. However, a closer look revealed that the student of the Royal Bavarian Court Kapellmeister Joseph Rheinberger (1839-1901) was a true-blue Munich native. He was a cellist at the State Theater there and became known as a composer of operettas, marches and dances. His march "Don Quixote" is one of the Rupprecht marches that is still known today and offers a firework of satirical ideas. Something really special among marches of his time.
