The commission to compose this mass came from Stuttgart Cathedral: the aim was to create an ordinarium which - following the limited possibilities of choral service music due to the pandemic - was to be scored for small voices and could be rehearsed in the shortest possible time. The young composer Lukas Grimm solved this task by writing a short, two-part ordinarium (without Credo) with organ accompaniment, in which the second voice basically runs in canon to the first, which drastically reduces the rehearsal time. Due to the pleasant ambitus of the voices, the Mass can be performed by two equal or mixed voice groups. The work also convinces with a lively sound and an unspent freshness, which the listeners may also feel and enjoy.
