Weill's famous "Dreigroschenoper", in which prevailing opera conventions are ridiculed. The first part is a "serious", almost baroque overture, followed by a ballad that is easy on the ears, and the finale is a dazzling song in a Charleston setting. A mix of dance music, mixed with style elements from jazz and often larded with irritating dissonances as a deliberate irony. This is music from an opera, but totally different!
