In 1939 Jean Daetwyler was commissioned to compose a march for the 50th anniversary of the Mittelwalliser Musikverband. He called his play Marignan March. Daetwyler, who was born in Basel and lived in the Valais, expressed his attachment to the canton by incorporating Ferdinand Otto Wolf's famous Valais song into his march.
