The Anglican tradition of Evensong with its large proportion of choral elements and the involvement of the congregation is becoming increasingly popular in German-speaking countries. It was only logical that the Diocese of Feldkirch, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary in September 2018, wished for a completely musicalised Evensong under the leitmotif "Licht" and commissioned the renowned Austrian artist Wolfgang Reisinger with the composition. The course is based on the Anglican model (including Magnificat and Nunc dimittis), while the performance possibilities are very variable up to unanimous variations of the chorically set to music psalms 27 and 97 The tonal language is consistently traditional and occasionally also does not disdain elements of "popular" music, which produces movements of great melodic and harmonic beauty and rousing expressiveness. This is a convincing vocal work that highlights the liturgical role of the choir in an exemplary manner, involves the congregation and impressively bundles prayers and praise at the end of the day and brings them before the Lord. The total of eight movements can be sung individually and in selections also on other occasions.
