Aase's Death (Åses død) is the second part of the Peer Gynt Suite No.1, Op. 46, by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907), composed in 1875. Originally the score boasted 26 movements, but those were later organized by Grieg into two suites of four movements each. In the story, Peer, having roamed in many countries for several years, finally comes home, and his mother dies in his arms. Willy Hautvast has written a fine arrangement for wind band of this touching music.
